طرز تلفظ حرف “s” در “where’s” و “who’s” صداي /z/ و در “what’s” صداي/s/ مي دهد.
مثال:go - goes
wash-washes watch - watches
study-studyies
Play - plays

We sometimes write only the first letter rather than the person's first name. These letters are called initials and are always have a full stop after them.
Example:Dr. S. Fischer is the short form of Doctor Steven Fischer.
The short form of Mister is Mr. The short form of Mistress is Mrs. There is no short form of Miss. The short form of Doctor is Dr.
Type the short form of each name using initials for the first names.
Example. Mister Henry Taylor : Mr. H. Taylor
1. Doctor Walter Pitt
2. Miss Jennifer Spears
3. Doctor Peter Watson
4. Doctor Keith Bernard
5. Miss Shirley Caine

Hi Chris, would you like to do something with me this weekend?
Sure. What shall we do?
I don't know. Do you have any ideas?
Why don't we see a film?
That's sounds good to me. Which film shall we see?
Let's see "Action Man 4".
I'd rather not. I don't like violent films. How about going to "Mad Doctor Brown"? I hear it's quite a funny film.
OK. Let's go see that. When is it on?
It's on at 8 o'clock at the Rex. Shall we have a bite to eat before the film?
Sure, that sounds great. What about going to that new Italian restaurant 'Michetti's'?
Great idea! Let's meet there at six.
OK. I'll see you at 'Michetti's' at six. Bye.
Bye.

Kenny Rogers
BUY ME A ROSE He works hard to give her all he thinks she wants A three car garage, her own credit cards He pulls in late to wake her up with a kiss good night If he could only read her mind, she'd say:
Buy me a rose, call me from work Open a door for me, what would it hurt Show me you love me by the look in your eyes These are the little things I need the most in my life
Now the days have grown to years of feeling all alone And she can’t help but wonder what she’s doing wrong Cause lately she’d try anything to turn his head Would it make a difference if she said:
Buy me a rose, call me from work Open a door for me, what would it hurt Show me you love me by the look in your eyes These are the little things I need the most in my life
And the more that he lives the less that he tries To show her the love that he hold inside And the more that she gives the more that he sees This is a story of you and me
So I bought you a rose on the way home from work Opened the door to a heart that I hurt And I hope you notice this look in my eyes Cause I’m gonna make things right I’m gonna hold you tonight Do all those little things For the rest of your life.

Hafiz (1325-1389), Persian poet, born in Shīrāz (now in Iran) into a poor family. Originally named Mohammed Shams od-Din, he gained the respectful title Hafiz, meaning “one who has memorized the Qur'an (Koran),” as a teacher of the Qur'an. He was a member of the order of Sufi mystics and also, at times, a court poet. His poems on one level celebrate the pleasures of drinking, hunting, and love at the court of Shīrāz. On a deeper level, according to some scholars, they reflect his consuming devotion as a Sufi to union with the divine. They also satirize hypocritical Muslim religious leaders.
Hafiz's work, collected under the title of Divan (trans. 1891), contains more than 500 poems, most of them in the form of a ghazal, a short traditional Persian form that he perfected. Each consists of up to 15 highly structured rhyming couplets dealing with one subject. The language is simple, lyrical, and heartfelt. Hafiz is greatly admired both in Iran and, in translation, in the West. Especially appealing are his love for the common person and his relation of daily life to the search of humanity for the eternal.

GONABAD, a town and a sub-province in the province of Khorasan. The sub-province, situated to the northeast of the mountains Kamarzard (peak, 2,578 m), Kalat (peak, 2,446 m), and Siahkuh (peak, 2,857), is bounded on the north by the sub-provinces of Torbat-e Haydariya and Kashmar, on the west by Ferdows Sub-province, on the east by Khaf Sub-province, and on the south by the sub-provinces of Ferdows and Qaenat; it comprises the towns of Bajestan, Gonabad, Bidokht, and Kakhk, as well as several rural districts (Wezarat-e keshvar, p. 10; Markaz-e amar-e Iran, Naqsha). The brackish river Kalshur flows in the north of the sub-province throughout the year and sinks into the SaltDesert (Kavir-e namak). Irrigation is by wells, qanats, and spring waters. Its principal products are wheat, barley, cotton, sugar beet, legume, grains, saffron, and fruits. Its handicrafts include carpet and kelim weaving, as well as mosaic and ceramic production. The region is also rich in gypsum, marble, fireclay (khak-e nasuz) deposits, as well as a variety of herbs used in traditional medicine. Its population, all Shi’ite Muslims, has risen from 87,341 in the late 1940s to 101,981 in 1991, of which 43,144 lived in the urban and the rest in rural areas.
The town of Gonabad is situated at 34° 20 ´N and 58° 42 ´E at an altitude of 1,150 m, 265 km southeast of Mashhad; it had a population of 24,708 in 1991. It is mentioned in early sources as Yonabad , Bonabed , and Jonabad and Gonabad. According to EsátÂakòri (p. 274), water was provided by underground channels (qanats). In the 14th century, it had a fortified lofty castle, whose foundation was popularly attributed to a son of Godarz (q.v.). The town was further protected by two more castles, Qala-ye Kò¨avair and Qala-ye Darjan, one on either side of the town. Its products were cereals and fruit; a great deal of fine silk was also manufactured here.
Monuments include the 13th-century congressional mosque, now mostly in ruins, and the Soltan-Mohammad Abed shrine, built during the reign of the Safavid Shah Tahmasb , lying 24 km south of the town. The latter suffered some damage during the 1968 earthquake, but it has since been repaired.
