Don't be so busy adding up your troubles
that you forget to count your blessings.
The smallest deed done is
greater than the best of intentions.
Love is a language that can be heard
by the deaf and seen by the blind.
A house is made of wooden beams.
A home is made of love and dreams.
To be a good friend open your ears
and heart more often than your mouth.
People don't care how much you know
until they know how much you care.
Have A Beautiful Day
God Bless You My Friend
Surah 113. The Daybreak, Dawn
1. Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn
2. From the mischief of created things;
3. From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads;
4. From the mischief of those who practise secret arts;
5. And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy.

I Bought a Pet Tomato
I bought a pet tomato and I tried to teach him tricks, but he wasn't any good at catching balls or fetching sticks. He could never catch a Frisbee, and he wouldn't sit or speak, though we practiced every afternoon and evening for a week. He refused to shake or wave or crawl or beg or take a bow, and I tried, but couldn't make him bark or get him to meow. He was terrible at playing dead. He couldn't jump a rope. When he wouldn't do a single trick I simply gave up hope. Though I liked my pet tomato, I returned him with regret. Boy, I sure do hope this watermelon makes a better pet.
--Kenn Nesbitt
Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we learn. The spiritual journey is the unlearning of fear and prejudices and the acceptance of love back in our hearts. Love is the essential reality and our purpose on earth. To be consciously aware of it, to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life. Meaning does not lie in things. Meaning lies in us.

Highway to Hawaii
www.teacherjoe.us
A guy was walking along the beach, found a bottle, and picked it up. A magical genie popped out and said, "Thanks for letting me out. For your kindness I will grant you one wish." The guy said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I can't because I'm afraid to fly and ships make me deathly sick. My wish is for you to build a highway from here to Hawaii." The genie replied, "I'm sorry, but I don't think I can do that. Just think of all the work involved. Think of the huge pilings we would need to hold up that highway and how deep they would have to be to reach the bottom of the ocean. And think of all the cement that would be needed. Plus, since it's such a long span, there would have to be gas stations and rest stops along the way. No, that's just too much to ask. Impossible. Think of another wish." The guy thought for a moment and said, "Well, there is one thing I've always wanted to know. I'd like to be able to understand women - what makes them laugh and cry, why are they so temperamental, why are they so difficult to get along with ...you know, what makes them tick?" The genie thought for a second, then asked, "Do you want that highway with two lanes or four?"

- A GREY AREA -
A GREY AREA means something that is not clearly defined and needs careful judgement. For example:
"We have always had a professional attitude to copyrighted texts, but online copyright is still a bit of a grey area."
Many people think they know what right and wrong are, but on closer examination it's usually a grey area.
"It's a grey area isn't it?" (Meaning the speaker is talking about an unsure concept).
"I do well in math and most sciences, but chemistry is still kind of a grey area."

The dance
retold by
S. E. Schlosser
The girl hurried through her schoolwork as fast as she could. It was the night of the high school dance, along about 70 years ago in the town of Kingsville, Texas. The girl was so excited about the dance. She had bought a brand new, sparkly red dress for the dance. She knew she looked smashing in it. It was gone to be the best evening of her life.
Then her mother came in the house, looking pale and determined.
"You are not going to that dance," her mother said.
"But why?" the girl asked her mother.
"I've just been talking to the preacher. He says the dance is going to be for the devil. You are absolutely forbidden to go," her mother said.
The girl nodded as if she accepted her mother's words. But she was determined to go to the dance. As soon as her mother was busy, she put on her brand new red dress and ran down to the K.C. Hall where the dance was being held.
As soon as she walked into the room, all the guys turned to look at her. She was startled by all the attention. Normally, no one noticed her. Her mother sometimes accused her of being too awkward to get a boyfriend. But she was not awkward that night. The boys in her class were fighting with each other to dance with her.
Later, she broke away from the crowd and went to the table to get some punch to drink. She heard a sudden hush. The music stopped. When she turned, she saw a handsome man with jet black hair and clothes standing next to her.
"Dance with me," he said.
She managed to stammer a "yes", completely stunned by this gorgeous man. He led her out on the dance floor. The music sprang up at once. She found herself dancing better than she had ever danced before. They were the center of attention.
Then the man spun her around and around. She gasped for breath, trying to step out of the spin. But he spun her faster and faster. Her feet felt hot. The floor seemed to melt under her. He spun her even faster. She was spinning so fast that a cloud of dust flew up around them both so that they were hidden from the crowd.
When the dust settled, the girl was gone. The man in black bowed once to the crowd and disappeared. The devil had come to his party and he had spun the girl all the way to hell.
